A Master’s Thesis on The Exposure of Adolescents to Scenes of Violence in Social Media and Its Impact on Their Behavior

A master’s thesis was discussed in College of Media in Al- Iraqia University that concerns radio and television journalism, on (Adolescents’ Exposure to Scenes of Violence in Social Networks and its Reflection on Their behavior, a Field Study of a Sample of Secondary Students) by postgraduate student (Abeer Abbas Abd Ahmed).
The thesis aims to reveal the extent of exposure of the respondents to scenes of violence on social networking sites and to shed light on the effects of adolescents’ exposure to social networking sites.
The thesis included an introduction to the concept of violence, its definitions, causes, theories that explained violence and its effects, and electronic extortion. The thesis recommended activating the role of middle, secondary and even primary schools by dedicating a weekly lesson to warn of scenes of violence on Internet and guiding them to the educational and ethical alternative, in addition to the need to develop laws and legislation that protect users of communication sites from attacks and violations, and it is better that these laws are consistent with local and global values.
