Scientific Symposium on: Osteoporosis

Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at College of Medicine, in cooperation with Women’s Empowerment Units and Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at College of Engineering at Al- Iraqia University, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Public Awareness about Osteoporosis” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Saad Abdul Aziz Al-Ani.

The symposium was attended by the Dean of College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Malik Abdul Razzaq Jaber, and assistants, architect Omar Hassan Hamid and Assistant Professor Ali Safaa Ali, in addition to representatives of Women’s Empowerment Unit, Assistant Prof. Arwa Amer, and Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, Assistant Prof. Zahraa Khudair Taha, and presence of a number of Lecturers members, staff and students. The symposium included a comprehensive awareness lecture on osteoporosis, with the aim of increasing awareness of its causes and how to prevent it.

The symposium aimed also to introduce participants to the causes of osteoporosis, enhance awareness of it, and reduce its impact on public health, as well as train attendees to effectively manage negative impacts and estimate the impact of the disease on society, aiming to reduce the incidence of infection and health costs by increasing awareness of prevention and treatment of the disease, and the benefits of following a healthy lifestyle, Such as balanced nutrition and exercise, which are essential in preventing osteoporosis.
