The Department of Translation Holds a Scientific Symposium at the College of Arts

The Department of Translation at the College of Arts, Al-Iraqia University held a symposium entitled “A Revolution in Language and the Power of Artificial Intelligence”, in which both Assist. Lect. Ahmed Ali Mahdi and Assist. Lect. Maysoun Khattab lectured.
The symposium aimed to shed light on the importance of preparing graduates for the requirements of the labor market in light of the rapid development of these technologies, while emphasizing the ethical and professional challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in education. Accordingly, the symposium recommends developing curricula that integrate traditional teaching and smart tools, and providing training programs for teachers to enhance the effective use of modern technologies, in addition to enhancing cooperation between academic institutions and the labor market to ensure that acquired skills are compatible with market needs. The recommendations also emphasize the importance of developing policies that ensure the ethical use of artificial intelligence, while supporting research that studies its impact on learning the English language and providing innovative solutions to improve the quality of education.
The symposium included the role of artificial intelligence in teaching the English language, with a focus on the opportunities and challenges it imposes on the educational process and the labor market.
The symposium aims to review the latest applications of artificial intelligence, such as machine translation systems, virtual teachers, and adaptive learning, while discussing the impact of these technologies on the traditional role of the teacher and modern teaching methods.
