Developing Grammar Curricula in Iraqi Universities is the Focus of a Scientific Symposium at the College of Islamic Sciences

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Islamic Sciences at the Al-Iraqia University held a scientific symposium entitled “Grammatical Lessons in Iraqi Universities: An Analytical View of Problems and Objectives,” in the Abdul Jalil Al-Fahdawi Hall, may God have mercy on him, on February 13, 2025.
The symposium came in line with the wide cognitive and scientific openings witnessed by the college. The symposium was moderated by Professor Dr. Walid Nihad Abbas, while it was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Katea.
The symposium addressed many problems of teaching grammar in Iraqi universities, such as problems of curricula, challenges of qualifying students enrolled in universities, in addition to studying the relationship between grammar lessons in school and university, and presenting the grammatical text “Alfiyya Ibn Malik” at the Al-Iraqia University.
Proposed solutions were also presented to fix these problems, the most important of which is working with the annual system, in addition to teaching the subject of “Linguistic Skills” in the study vocabulary in the Department of Arabic Language.
At the end of the symposium, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Kazem Khalifa Hammadi, gave an intervention in which he stressed the importance of adding the subject of “Language Skills” to the study vocabulary in the department, pointing out its great role in improving the level of education in this field.
Interventions were exchanged between the professors present and participating in the symposium, which were responded to by the lecturers.
