Al-Iraqia University Celebrates the Occasion of (International Human Rights Day)

Al- Iraqia University Presidency, in collaboration with the High Commission for Human Rights, organized a grand celebration on the occasion of International Human Rights Day in the central celebration hall at the College Complex in Adhamiya.
The event began with a speech by Vice Rector of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Hassan Fadhalah Al-Tamimi, who stated:
“Human rights are an integral part of the Iraqi Constitution’s philosophy and are guaranteed by it. Today, Al- Iraqia University participates in celebrating International Human Rights Day as we recall the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which serves as a pivotal and reference document supporting international efforts to uphold the principles of dignity, equality, non-discrimination, justice, tolerance, and other noble values.”
The Director of the Human Rights Commission Office in Baghdad, Mr. Wissam Kazem Salman, also delivered a speech emphasizing the commission’s dedication to protecting human rights, as they are a fundamental aspect of human dignity and the existence of nations. He highlighted efforts to promote and foster societal peace, wherein universities and colleges play a vital role in establishing the foundations of these regulations and texts to ensure the rights and duties of Iraqi society.
Additionally, the Head of the Human Rights Division at the University Presidency, Assistant Professor Dr. Sanaa Abdul Tareesh, delivered a speech outlining the division’s duties, which prioritize raising awareness among university students about the importance of human rights and peaceful coexistence.
💢 On the sidelines of the celebration, the University Presidency honored several faculty members who contributed to publishing research in the field of human rights.
The celebration was attended by a representative of the Prime Minister’s Office, a representative of United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), representatives of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Ministry of Education, and a number of civil society organizations.
