“Fighting Drug Abuse in Academic Communities”

Within the activities of Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division, in cooperation with College of Engineering and Ministry of Interior – Directorate of Relations and Media – Friends of the Interior Department, organized a workshop on “Fighting Drug Abuse in Academic Communities”.

The workshop aimed to highlight the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances and to educate the student community about the risks of this scourge, which disturbs the harmony of society in general and negatively impacts both individuals and families.

The workshop also included the screening of short awareness films, as well as the distribution of several printed materials illustrating the harmful effects of drugs on physical and mental health. It sought to raise awareness among students about the risks of drug addiction and abuse, their negative health, psychological, and social consequences, and methods of prevention. Additionally, the workshop informed students about the designated hotlines for reporting cases of drug use, trafficking, and the trade of psychotropic substances.
