College of Education, Al Iraqia University, discussed a master’s thesis on the tribulations of ministers and writers through “Al-Faraj Ba’d Al-Shidda” by Al-Tanukhi ش Historical Study book.
The thesis, presented by the student (Aqeel Ali Hussein) from Department of History, aimed to clarify the tribulations that ministers and writers were exposed to in the book “Al-Faraj Ba’d Al-Shidda” and to explain the causes and results of these tribulations and the extent of their impact on (Abbasid Caliphate) and public life.
The thesis included an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, a list of sources and references, and a summary in English. The first chapter was entitled (Judge Al-Tanukhi, his biography and culture), while the second chapter was entitled “The Tribulations of Ministers” and dealt with the concept of ministry, ministers of the first Abbasid era, and ministers of the second Abbasid era.
The third chapter (The Trials of the Book) dealt with the concept of writing, the tribulations of the book of the first Abbasid era, and the book of the second Abbasid era. The study reached a number of results, including that many ministers and writers played a major role in the conflict between the sons of the caliphs, through direct intervention and continuous incitement, which resulted in battles between them and the killing of some caliphs, as happened in the sedition of Al-Amin and Al-Ma’mun, as well as Al-Muqtadir Billah and Ibn Al-Mu’tazz and others. The reason for this intervention was due to personal ambitions and the desire to obtain power and prestige. The thesis was approved with a very good high grade.
