A lecturer at College of Dentistry Publishes a Research Paper in the Global Containers

Dr.(Maryam Ghazanfar Alwan), a lecturer at the College of Dentistry, published a research in an international scientific journal with a high impact factor. The research was published in **Iraqi Journal of Veterinary Sciences**, classified in **Scopus** containers with **Q1** classification. The study deals with the detection of Listeria monocytogenes* bacteria, and the analysis of antibiotic resistance genes and virulence genes specific to these strains. The genotypes of the isolates obtained from milk, cheese, beef, and chicken were also studied.

The study included collecting (203 samples) from local markets in Iraq, including **53 milk samples**, **52 cheese **, **48 beef **, and **50 chicken samples**.

The samples were subjected to traditional culture and biochemical tests, and eight isolates were genetically detected using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based on the 16S rRNA gene. The results indicate the biological presence of these bacteria in food products, which poses a significant health risk to consumers.

This research reflects Dr. Maryam’s continuous efforts to promote scientific research and highlight the role of the College of Dentistry at global level.
