Discussion of a Master’s Thesis in College of Education for (Women) on (Abbasid Poetry by Abu Al-Abbas Al-Mubarrad)

Under the patronage of the Dean of College of Education for (Women) at Al Iraqia University, Prof. Dr. Hoda Nouri Shukr, the college discussed a master’s thesis on (Abbasid poetry in the book Al-Kamil by Al-Mubarrad (d. 285 AH) an analytical study).

The thesis submitted by researcher Muntaha Khadir Hassan aimed to contribute to reaching a rich literary wealth and abundant material that includes various fields represented by (literature and language) in addition to famous poets such as Abu Nuwas, Abu Al-Atahiya, Abu Tammam and other ancient and modern poets.

The study showed that the poetic purposes were not fixed in terms of lineage, as they varied according to the need or occasion set by the author, and most of them were excerpts and fragments from different poems, including satire, praise, wisdom, description, asceticism, pride, and elegy. The poetic rhymes were harmonious and absolute, which prevailed over restricted rhymes.
