Educational and Awareness Seminar on ( Concept of Corruption )

Legal Affairs Department at the University Presidency, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center and in coordination with the High Commission for Human Rights – Baghdad Office, held a seminar on the concept of corruption.

The seminar targeted a group of employees in the departments and centers affiliated with the University Presidency – Al-Waziriyah Complex, presented by (Dr. Ahmed Thabet Abdul Karim) and (Professor Rafel Salim Najih) / High Commission for Human Rights – Baghdad Office

The seminar was represented by several axes:

⭕ Concepts of corruption according to Transparency International and according to the United Nations.

⭕ Addressing the effects of corruption on the enjoyment of human political, economic and social rights.

⭕ United Nations Convention against Corruption of 2005, to which Iraq is a party according to Law No. 35 of 2007, as well as addressing official statistics issued by the Federal Integrity Commission according to the latest statistics for the year 2023.

⭕ The mechanism for combating corruption at the national level and the importance of the role of the media and civil society organizations in uncovering cases of corruption with the necessity of providing protection for these groups.

⭕ The role of religious institutions and references in raising awareness and educating about the dangers of.
