Delegation of the University Visits University of Malaya, Malaysia
A delegation from Al Iraqia University visited the University of Malaya, Malaysia, which is one of the oldest and most important universities in Malaysia, as it was established in Singapore in 1905 before moving to Malaysia. The university has achieved many outstanding academic and research achievements, and currently occupies a prestigious position among international universities.

During the visit, the delegation met with Vice Chancellor of the University, some deans and representatives of colleges, and International Relations Officer, and the following points were discussed:
- Establishing a partnership between University of Al Iraqia and the University of Malaya.
- Collaborating in problem-focused research in Malaysia and Iraq,
- Facilitating postdoctoral leave and scientific/research sabbaticals for University of Al Iraqia professors at the University of Malaya.
- Implementing student mobility programs, allowing for internal and external exchange and preparing students for the job market.
- Providing funding opportunities for Al Iraqia students and staff to continue their studies at University of Malaya.
- Joint supervision of PhD candidates in postgraduate programs.
- Appointing external examiners to assess PhD theses between the two universities.
- Exchange of academic staff to enhance development, training, workshops and enhance the expertise of Al Iraqia University staff.
- Developing an advanced online training program for Al Iraqia University staff, funded by the University of Iraq.
- Encouraging the University of Malaya faculty and students to publish in reputable of Al Iraqia University journals.
- Inviting the University of Malaya experts to join the editorial boards of the University of Al Iraqia journals.
- Inviting University of Malaya participants and presenters to International Research Conference on Engineering and Applied Sciences (IRCEA2024), scheduled to be held in December 2024, with the possibility of making collaborative efforts in organizing the event.
This visit comes within the timetable set by Al Iraqia University to visit Malaysian universities with the aim of enhancing academic and research cooperation. These visits include meetings with a number of prestigious universities in Malaysia to discuss opportunities for cooperation and exchange of knowledge and expertise, with the aim of developing academic and research performance at Al Iraqia University and raising the level of qualification of its graduates. This visit and the proposed cooperation between the Iraqi University and the University of Malaya contribute to advancing academic work and qualifying graduates, by promoting joint research, exchanging knowledge and expertise, and providing new study and research opportunities for students and employees, which enhances the position of the Iraqi University at the international and local levels.
