An Awareness Seminar Entitled “Media Language and its Role in National Heritage”

Public Relations Department / College of Media at the University organized an awareness seminar on the phenomenon of “media language and its role in national heritage,” which was presented by the lecturer, Dr. Iman Ali Khamis, in presence of a number of college professors, employees, and students.

The symposium was held in Al-Hikma Hall at the college’s headquarters, and aimed to demonstrate the effective role of media in spread of the classical language, as it thus preserves the national heritage. Focusing on the disparity of media workers in terms of linguistic ability this disparity contributed to many linguistic errors that quickly spread among the public.

At the end of the symposium, Dr. Iman recommended several points, the most important of which are: supporting young people interested in reviving the Arabic language and giving them appropriate opportunities to demonstrate their linguistic abilities and talents, in addition to establishing student committees supervised by an Arabic language professor whose goal is to track down linguistic errors and address them either through awareness publications or representative clips. In addition to paying attention to young people and making a timetable for the coming year by preparing field visits to schools and middle schools and preparing language competitions to motivate young people and encourage them to support and revive Arabic language.
