(Polar Vortex is Linked to the Harsh Winter Weather in Iraq)

Department of Geography / College of Arts, in cooperation with Continuing Education Unit, held a discussion seminar entitled (The connection between polar vortex and the harsh winter weather in Iraq, the case of February 1-15, 2020), in which  assistant lecturer (Ahmed Majeed Abbas) lectured.

The seminar focused on studying and analyzing severe winter weather events and the global surface and surface causes of snowfall over Iraq from February 1 to 15, 2020. Daily temperature data from twelve meteorological stations were used that provide data continuously and were well geographically distributed over the study area, extending for 36 years from 1985 to 2020.All recorded temperature data were obtained from Iraqi Meteorological Authority. Here we have explained the minimum temperature data.
