“News Treatment of Economic Issues Concerning Russian-Ukrainian War on the Websites of Foreign Satellite Channels”
Department of Radio and Television Journalism at College of Media at Al- Iraqia University discussed a master’s thesis on “News Treatment of Economic Issues Concerning Russian-Ukrainian War on the Websites of Foreign Satellite Channels,” by Lecturer (Heba Rafid Hameed).
The message aimed to identify the news treatment of economic topics resulting from Russian-Ukrainian war, which was used by the websites of foreign satellite channels Bloomberg – CNBC, as well as to identify the topics of treatment and the focus of interest in news treatment, in addition to knowing the patterns and mechanisms of news treatment, news frameworks used, and effective forces. The study reached a number of results, including that the topics of economic sanctions on Russia and fluctuations in global stock markets were the topics of news treatment, and the focus of attention was focused on the issues of oil, gas and energy sanctions, the rise and fall of stocks and the causes of fluctuations in stocks and bond yields, as well as the fulcrum in treatment patterns. The interpretive treatment was used, and Russia, United States, European Union, and European companies were the most important active forces in the event. The two sites used various visual materials in the treatment and focused on graphics as a highlighting element in the news treatment.
