Simulating the Deterioration of Banks of (Shatt al-Arab Using HEC-RAS Program)

A higher diploma research entitled (Simulating the deterioration of the banks of Shatt al-Arab using HEC-RAS program) was discussed in College of Arts, Al-Iraqia University, Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems.

The research presented by student Muhammad Widad Khudair aimed to demonstrate the accuracy of remote sensing and geographic information systems in studying the risks of deterioration of the banks of Shatt al-Arab, and to detect changes that have occurred in land uses and land cover in the study area, create a database and analyze it, and identify the elements that threaten the land uses of the study area. In the geographic information systems environment, identifying the areas that have been subjected to change in the geographic information systems environment, representing them with digital maps and tables, analyzing them, displaying the results, and conducting a computer simulation of Shatt al-Arab River using HEC-RAS program and presenting the results.

The research included two chapters: the first chapter deals with creating a database for the study area, while the second one deals with cartographic modeling of the areas that have been subjected to deterioration.
