A master’s Thesis Entitled :(Charecter of Ayyubid Sultans and its Impact on Confronting Crusades).
The Thesis presented by (Dina Turki Ibrahim) A Post Graduate student at Arts College/Department of history, aimed to explain the role of Ayyubid sultans and the Ayyubid state in repelling and ending Crusader presence and restoring Arab lands to the authority of Muslims, and that the role of the Sultans is an honorable history in eliminating Crusaders and breaking their strength, especially after the Battle of Hattin and the liberation of Jerusalem, which is considered a stigma in their history after their control for nearly two centuries. The thesis included four chapters.
The thesis included four chapters. The first chapter was entitled (The establishment of Ayyubid state and the circumstances of its establishment). It included two topics. The first was entitled (Ayyubids before the Sultanate), and the second was entitled (The conditions of Islamic world on the eve of the establishment of Ayyubid state). It included two topics, the first (the most important incidents with the Crusaders and the role of Saladin in them) and the second ( Management of battles).
The third chapter focused on (the conditions of Ayyubid state after the death of Salah al-Din), included two topics, the first (the impact of internal conditions on the confrontation with Crusaders) while the second was (Position of Sultans after Salah al-Din regarding the confrontation with Crusaders).
The fourth chapter dealt with (personality of Salah al-Din’s successors in confronting the sixth and seventh campaigns) which included two topics, the first (renewed conflicts between the sons of the Al-Adhala King and its impact on formation the Sixth Crusade), and the second (the Seventh Crusade and the efforts of Ayyubid sultans in confronting it).
