Protecting Environment from Pollution by Using Modern Technologies to Reduce Waste Damage

College of Islamic Sciences, in cooperation with College of Law and Political Science and the Central Library of Al- Iraqia University, held a scientific workshop entitled “Legal Methods for Protecting Environment from Pollution.”

The workshop, which was organized by Department of Arabic Language in the college, was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. (Rana Ali Hameed) and teachers Asmaa Saadoun Fadel and Roaa Hamid Abd, aimed at highlighting environmental problems and the role of individuals in protecting them, as well as the effects of natural pollution and public health, as well as confirming protection From a legal perspective, by reviewing the most important preventive measures to protect the environment from pollution, as well as the administrative and financial penalties included in Environment Protection and Improvement Law No. 27 of 2009.

The workshop included many proposals, the most important of which is preserving the environment through the use of pollution treatment systems, clean technologies, renewable energy technologies, and possible alternatives with less polluting to the environment and that reduce, recycle or reuse waste, in addition to the role of studies and research related to environmental protection, improvement and dissemination.

The workshop recommended an indication of the sources of air and water pollution and negative behaviors to deal with the environment and how to modify them, and to present role of the citizen himself and the positive practices towards his environment, and to confirm that the administration has broad powers in the field of environmental protection, as it has preventive means represented in prohibition, obligation, licensing, notification and encouragement, and it also has means A deterrent is represented in the warning, temporary closure, withdrawal of the license and a financial fine.
