Joint Cultural Forum Between Iraqi and Turkish Universities

Presidency of Al- Iraqia University organized the first joint cultural forum between Iraqi universities and Turkish universities represented by International Universities Council, in the presence of the Rector of Al- Iraqia University, Prof. Dr. Ali Saleh Hussein al-Jubouri ,the Scientific and Administrative Assistants of the University, Deputy Minister of Minister Higher Education and Scientific Research for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Hamid Kazem Al Shukri, the Director General of Missions and Cultural Relations Department, Prof. Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher, Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Ali Reza Günay, academic figures and heads of Iraqi Universities.
Dr. Ali Saleh Hussein al-Jubouri, stated that the forum aims to strengthen scientific and educational links between Iraqi and Turkish universities to achieve common goals and to exchange scientific and educational experiences and knowledge between universities in line with the advancement plan that Al- Iraqia University and other Iraqi universities seek to achieve by keeping pace with development. In the field of higher education and knowledge transfer, pointing out that Al-Iraqia University has cooperation agreements with a large group of Arab and foreign universities and is urging steps to go beyond its local environment to global horizons.
The forum included many basic axes, the most prominent was the emphasis on activating exchange of experiences in light of the agreements and memoranda of understanding previously signed between the ministries of two parties, developing skills, supporting youth projects, enhancing cooperation in the field of academic studies and scientific research, holding joint seminars, lectures and conferences, as well as preparing Common ground for the second forum to be held in Ankara May 2022.
On the other hand, ambassador to Iraq, Ali Reza Günay, expressed his country’s interest in providing full support to Iraqi universities and increasing the scope of cooperation between two countries in many and diverse academic activities through holding seminars, workshops, joint scientific research, academic and professional activities, besides providing scholarships.
The forum came out with a set of recommendations, including working on the possibility of activating advantages of knowledge exchange between universities, which is a function of the advancement of universities in their annual scientific classification, such as scholarships, mutual fellowships, post-doctoral studies, supervision, postgraduate studies, conferences, joint research, visiting professor mechanisms, summer training programs for students, and teaching staff development program besides other scientific memoranda of understanding, possibility of providing the necessary facilities to the affiliates of cooperating universities, including administrative leaders, teachers and students, about the procedures for granting free visas or reducing them in a way that.
