A delegation from the Al-Iraqia University, headed by the Assistant President for Academic Affairs, Professor Khamis Awad, visited the Cultural Attaché in London. The delegation met with Professor Qusay Al-Ahmadi, the Cultural Attaché, in a meeting aimed at strengthening academic cooperation between the university and universities in the United Kingdom.
The meeting began with congratulations to Dr. Al-Ahmadi on assuming his new position. The two sides then moved on to discuss several future initiatives and programs, most notably:
– Launching a summer school in partnership with UK universities, aimed at improving the English language skills of University of Iraq students. The summer school will be held in the UK, providing participants with an opportunity to gain insight into the higher education environment at international universities and enhance their knowledge of global academic systems.
– Preparations are underway to send a number of students to study abroad at UK universities under the study leave program, following the approval of the scholarship plan. – **Opening horizons for cooperation in medical education** **
Evaluating medical college students and enhancing the exchange of academic expertise, along with **training college doctors on the use of the Medical Skills Lab** and updating OSCE exam methods in accordance with modern medical education standards.
– **Inviting visiting professors from UK universities** to deliver lectures to postgraduate students online, in addition to cooperating in organizing workshops, seminars, and specialized conferences.
Dr. Al-Ahmadi expressed his **clear support for these initiatives**, expressing his keenness to activate cooperation between the Iraqi University and UK universities, which would contribute to the development of the higher education system and strengthen international academic partnerships.
