The College of Education for Girls Discusses a Master’s Thesis on Rhetorical and Critical Terminology in Al-Suyuti’s Commentary on “Uqood al-Juman” in Meanings and Rhetoric.

In the presence of the Dean of the College of Education for Girls at Al-Iraqia University, Dr. Huda Muhammad Salih, and the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rana Samim, the college discussed a master’s thesis on rhetorical and critical terminology in “Uqood al-Juman” in meanings and rhetoric by Al-Suyuti (d. 911 AH).
The thesis, submitted by researcher Nidal Sami Salih Al-Rashed Al-Mashhadani, aimed to shed light on the importance of critical and rhetorical terminology in Arabic critical studies, and the extent to which Al-Suyuti added critical or rhetorical terminology to his book, “Sharh Uqood al-Juman.” It also sought to explore the book “Sharh Uqood al-Juman” and Al-Suyuti’s views on it.
The researcher stated that the importance of the topic lies in our desire to explore critical and rhetorical terminology in the book “Sharh Uqood al-Juman,” which provides the reader with a deeper understanding of the layers of aesthetics. The creativity evident in Arabic literary texts, the acquisition of a broader vision of the influence of rhetoric and criticism in formulating literary ideas and meanings, and the shedding of light on Al-Suyuti as a sophisticated literary thinker and critic, who combined science and art in presenting comprehensive and distinguished studies in the field of literature in general and Arabic rhetoric in particular.
