The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the College of Medicine, Al-Iraqia University Organizes a Field Visit for Second-Year Students to Al-Numan Teaching Hospital

As part of the application of the “Early Clinical Exposure” principle, a modern pillar of medical education aimed at consolidating scientific concepts through realistic clinical practice, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the College of Medicine, Al-Iraqia University, organized a field visit for second-year students to Al-Numan Teaching Hospital. The visit took place on Monday and Tuesday, April 14-15, 2025.
🎯 Objectives of the visit:
To enhance the practical application of concepts taught theoretically during the academic year.
To link theoretical information to actual clinical practice.
To develop students’ practical skills and analytical thinking at early stages of study.
👨‍⚕️ The visit was supervised by:
Branch Head: Lect. Dr. Bashar Jawad
Branch Rapporteur: Lect. Jinan Hamid
With the participation of a number of the department’s professors
With the direct support of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Nizar Al-Dabbagh, and the close follow-up of the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nawar Sahib Khalil.

🏥 Visit Topics:
The scientific tour included the wards of Internal Medicine, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Surgery, and the Emergency Department. Students had the opportunity to conduct clinical and laboratory examinations and read laboratory tests on hospitalized patients. This enabled them to apply what they had learned theoretically in a real-life clinical setting, under the direct supervision of the specialized teaching staff.
